Step into a free, interactive evening of spontaneous collaboration, hosted by Emilia Nurmukhamet, where sound and movement meet in a supported, queer-centred space. Drawing from the Shifting Shapes workshop series (Ugly Duck, Rambert), this event explores creative translations between movement and electronic music through live, improvised performance.
Experimental musicians Dear Annie, Zyggy de Somogyi, and Jim Osman will be paired at random with movement artists Billy Gigurtsis, Fi Caspia, Ghost & John, Tiana Simone and Théïa Maldoom, improvising together in real time. Across three rounds, the evening unfolds as a living conversation between bodies, sound, and audience:
- Round one pairs one dancer with one musician.
- Round two expands to two dancers in dialogue with sound.
- Round three opens out into a whole group jam, with additional slots available for audience members to join the improvisation.
All performers are invited to respond to ideas emerging from the Queer Frequencies: Community Collaging Workshop & Exhibition, foregrounding presence, connection, and collective energy.
The programme also includes three open slots for local movers/dancers and improvisers, each receiving an honorarium. These slots are available to sign up to on a first-come basis and will be selected at random on the night. This opportunity is open to all levels of experience. Sign-Up to be a part of it HERE
Paper and colourful pens will be on hand if you’d like to respond to the live improvisations with doodles, drawings, or words!
This is a relaxed event, with sensory toys and earplugs provided.
