Join with us this Ramadan and Women’s History month as we centre the body as a site of resistance.
Break fast with us, there will be food, performances, and celebration, as well as a space to reflect on the ties that bind us as a community.
We will be acknowledging the collective struggle of menstruating people across the globe as we fight to survive under imperialism, conflict and the legacies of empire. All funds raised will support our sisters in the global south by combating period poverty in Sudan and Palestine.
Maslaha
Maslaha is an Arabic word and social justice concept meaning “the common good.” We work in solidarity with Muslim communities in Britain in the struggle to live free from racism, Islamophobia, sexism and oppression in all its forms. We ground our work in the Islamic principles of social justice and our duty to the ‘common good’. We believe that the tools for liberation lie within our communities. We work across arts, education, gender, health and the criminal punishment system. It's about building long-term structures of care free from state violence, whilst learning from past and international struggles.
The Ad'iyah Collective
The Ad'iyah Collective are a Reproductive Justice Collective that support Muslims and their communities through their pregnancy ending journeys (abortion, miscarriage and stillbirth). They do this by offering free 1-2-1 doula support before, during and after a pregnancy ending. They also run online peer support spaces and political education offerings to connect the dots between pregnancy endings and other sites of struggle.
Inclusive Mosque Initiative
The Inclusive Mosque Initiative is an intersectional feminist mosque dedicated to creating inclusive, safer places for marginalised Muslims and their families, especially non-traditional families. We are committed to reviving a rights-based Islam that challenges all forms of oppression. We call ourselves a mosque to demonstrate that a mosque is made up of a community, not bound by a building.
