The East London Drag scene is notorious for it's kooky chaos and unpolished take on Drag.
It's only right we do some takeovers of iconic niche pop culture media, starting with:
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL !
WHAT TIME IS IT!?
Time to join us for the first installment of ‘EAST LONDON DOES:’ as we bring some of your local faves to our favourite basement and see their interpretations of a show that brought us so much childhood serotonin.an
Yeah we're gonna BOP BOP BOP, BOP TO THE TOP and BREAK FREE from the roles we never thought we would get to play
EVERYDAY of your life, you will find us there, you will hold us tight.
ACCESS
Sadly, The Divine is currently not fully accessible.
The cabaret and club space are in the basement of the venue. There are 17 wide steps with slipresistant treads down to the space with sturdy handrails either side.
The upstairs of The Divine does have a newly installed Acessible toilet. The show, however, will be downstairs.
If you need further information, please refer to The Divine ‘About’ page on the website. www.thedivine.co.uk
Whilst our goal is to move to a space that is fully accessible, these spaces charge hire fees and have minimum bar spends that are less accessible to those who come from systemically marginalised demographics. Before being able to commit to these spaces and gamble breaking even, we need to see if an event like ours will get an audience through the door in the first place. We need to see if we can break even without these extra costs first. Only once we can confirm our audience, regulars, and get feelers out for our show, we as marginalised Artists will be able to afford to move to venues that charge us for the space. We are deeply grateful to The Divine, and we look forward to supporting them as a Queer venue and home to so many.
Please come on down and support what we are trying to do here, so we know in future that we can take risks and sacrifice from our own pockets without losing money in our quest to move to an accessible space.
