Sex Worker History: 1800s
Learn about sex worker history in Europe in the 1800s. Hear what the lives of sex workers were like at the time, what the laws were, read real letters written by sex workers from the early 1800s, and gain the context needed to understand the sex worker rights movement in the modern day.
Attendees will get printed copies of letters written by sex workers in the 1800s and postcards of illustrations of sex workers published in the 1880s.
Hosted by Jack Parker, translator of La Prostitution Contemporaine (Contemporary Prostitution), a book originally published in 1884 about sex work and public opinion.
