May - June LGBT+ Writing workshops
A series of FREE writing classes for LGBT+ would-be and actual writers who want to improve their writing and perhaps get new inspiration. Come and explore different writing techniques and ideas among like-minded and sympathetic people. Best for people with a little writing experience of some kind and some command of English.
We have been running these classes for over two years now, and from them we have created two anthologies [Flash Dances and shortly Hot Flashes] written largely by people from the workshops. We also have an e-magazine Flash PPink which showcases new writing. One member has gone on to be accepted on a MA course in creative writing, and another is shortly publishing his first novel, so we must be doing something right!
There are many obstacles to writing, revolving round lack of self-confidence and feelings of exclusion. Come and burst through those barriers with us.
If you want to come to these, you should be prepared to commit to regular attendance, and to writing some ‘homework’ each week which the group can discuss. We emphasise that we are not judgemental, but provide a caring and supportive environment.
