NOTE: Please be aware the dates have shifted by 1 week since initial posting. The course runs 11th May - 1st June
Ever wanted to work backstage in theatre? Join us at Matchstick Technical for a FREE/PWYC series of 4 training sessions that cover all the basics needed to run small theatre shows. With it comes the opportunity for future shadowing and training alongside a collection of 3-4 day work experience opportunities in June with our partnership with Springbok and opportunities in July in partnership with Putney Arts Theatre
This course is accessible for people with little or no theatre/ technical theatre experience. Additionally, although we suggest 12+, we are able to accommodate all ages, with both major tutors being fully DBS qualified and with experience in teaching young people. We would encourage people to sign up with the intent of attending all dates
Sessions run every Monday from the 11th May - 1st June, alternating between the White Bear and Golden Goose Theatres from 6 to 8pm with optional time from 9-10 for experimentation and practice. All sessions will have 2 hours of dedicated training and activities.
Whilst we will accept anyone regardless of identity, we'd like to particularly encourage young people, women and people of colour to apply. We are also willing to find provisions to allow for disabled access. The venue is wheelchair accessible. If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch either over email (matchsticktechnical@gmail.com), our website (www.matchsticktechnical.co.uk) or on instagram (@matchsticktechnical)
We'd like to offer a special thanks to the organisations helping us host these events: White Bear & Golden Goose Theatres, Springbok Productions, Poor Penny Theatre Co. and Kibo Productions
Donations are massively appreciated and let us keep hosting these with bigger and better resources!
