Brooke Kahawai Holt, is a Mākaha, Oʻahu–based artisan whose work centers around contemporary jewelry alongside the ancestral practices of lauhala weaving and hulu (feather) lei making.
Guided by the stories of her kūpuna and the rhythm of island life, she creates adornment that honors ʻike passed on through generations—each weave and each feather placed with intention, respect, and aloha. Working with materials gathered from the ʻāina and shaped through traditional practice, her pieces carry forward living moʻolelo that reflect beauty, identity, and belonging.
What to expect at the workshop:
• A brief history of Hawaiian Weaving
• Overview of Materials
• Description of types of weaving and common patterns
• Students chose either a pair of earrings or a bracelet to weave.
• Students can do multiple projects as there will be additional kits available for them to use.
