Join Queer Nature Club South West for a creative, relaxed, queer-led meet-up and walk to explore queer nature on our doorstep in central Bournemouth.
You might have heard about gay penguin couples or polyamorous dolphins, but gay nature is all around us! Birds, plants, animals, mosses all exhibit extraordinary diversity of sexual behavour, relationships and reproductory methods…including those in our towns and villages and back gardens.
Monday 29th June 2026
18.30-20:30
Central Bournemouth (details provided once you book)
We will be walking with Queer Nature Club founder and award-winning filmmaker Daniel Baker-Wells and brilliant local Queer Book Club facilitator and Your Nature founder Julia Armstrong.
Together we'll be exploring ideas of queer nature as we venture on a low-key ramble through a local park.
This is a fully accessible event:
- Approx. 1 mile round route on hard, wheelchair accessible surfaces
- Plenty of rest spots & a relaxed pace
- Central Bournemouth location will be shared with those who have booked
- Pay what you can: suggested cost £3-6 (plus Outsavvy booking fee)
- Free places also available: email us on socialmaterialcic@gmail.com
This event is for 18+, anyone 16-18 can join, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
queer-affirming & queer-led: our events are for the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, & anyone interested in ideas of ‘queer nature’.
If you have any questions, email us: socialmaterialcic@gmail.com
We are a welcoming and friendly group: come by yourself to meet other nature-loving queers!

QUEER NATURE CLUB SOUTH WEST is a community of folks (LGBTQIA+ & allies) who are interested in exploring ideas of queer nature and going on walks or expeditions together to local landscapes and nature reserves in the Southwest of England.
Activities are queer affirming and queer-led, the programme is designed to be as open and accessible as possible. The majority of our events are fully-wheelchair accessible, but in 2026 we are also programming some longer hikes.
In 2024-5 we made a zine together.
In Summer 2026 we’ll be making a banner together- for pride parades later in the year and 2027.
