Curious about the possibilities of scent? Eager to try something new?
This workshop delves into the cultural history and symbolism of scent, botany, and perfume materials that have been representing LGBTQ+ cultures and identities.
We will smell and explore together a set of perfumer-grade natural and synthetic aromatic materials, as a way to think the world through the lens of the most underrated and marginalised of all the senses – the sense of smell.
We will learn about the provenance and properties of each scent material, along with their history and rich symbolism. This will allow to find new ways of experiencing and describing the world around us.
All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. The workshop aims to be fun and relaxed, and you'll be able to participate as much or as little as you like.
A small ask: please do not wear any perfume and heavily scented personal care products.
