Join us on 7 July, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, for a special Pride & Protest event: The Stonewall Legacy in a Time of Resistance.
As LGBTQ+ rights face renewed challenges across the United States and beyond, the conversation around Pride has never been more urgent. Join us for Pride & Protest, hosted at The Common Press's brand new Dalston venue, a queer bookshop and home of LGBTQ+ literature, arts, activism and community.
We're here to stay. The community is too strong to go backward - Kurt Kelly
This special event welcomes Kurt Kelly and Stacy Lentz, co-owners of the legendary Stonewall Inn in New York City, the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. As custodians of one of the most important sites in queer history and passionate advocates for LGBTQ+ equality, they continue to champion the power of community, visibility, and activism in the face of growing challenges.
If you don't support these queer safe spaces in our community, they won't exist. We need people to come down not just in June, but 365 days a year. - Stacy Lentz
Hosted by Aisha Shaibu-Lenoir, Director of The Common Press, the conversation will explore what's happening in the US today, why Pride and protest remain inseparable, and why queer spaces matter more than ever. From the legacy of Stonewall to the realities of the present moment, we'll discuss how queer communities can continue to organise, connect, and thrive during a time of increasing uncertainty.
Join us for an evening of conversation, reflection, and solidarity as we celebrate the enduring spirit of resistance that has always been at the heart of Pride. This event is brought together by The Common Press, queer creative agency Improper and Brooklyn Brewery, who'll be keeping the beers flowing throughout the night.
