We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Lucy Cavendish Prize who will be hosting their second event of the year with us at the beautiful Chimney House.
We will be joined by bestselling author, Molly Aitken, W&N publishing director, Alexa von Hirschberg, and WME UK Books co-head, Hellie Ogden as they de-mystify publishing from all angles.
Molly will also be hosting a writing workshop in the first hour: Mastering the First Chapter:

Molly Aitken is the author of the bestselling Bright I Burn which was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature's Encore Prize. Her debut, The Island Child, won a prize for unpublished novels which led to her getting an agent. Her short stories have been published in The New Yorker and Ploughshares, as well as being dramatised for BBC Radio 4.
Alexa von Hirschberg is the publishing director at Weidenfeld & Nicolson (Hachette) where she edits and publishes literary fiction and narrative non-fiction. Alexa has worked at Faber & Faber, Bloomsbury and Canongate and has published authors including Reni Eddo-lodge, Lucy Rose, Clare Chambers, Melissa Harrison, Kae Tempest, Benjamin Myers, Damian Barr, Samantha Shannon, Patrick deWitt, Brian Eno, Cosey Fanni Tutti and Don Paterson.
Hellie Ogden is Partner and co-head of WME's UK Book division. She represents fiction, children's books and non-fiction and enjoys bold storytelling, moving prose and vivid, thought-provoking characters. She is actively taking on new clients and as an editorially focused agent, she has a keen interest in helping to develop and nurture debut writers. Hellie was shortlisted for Agent of the Year at the British Book Awards 2025. She represents a number of global bestsellers and award-winning writers including Kiran Millwood-Hargrave, Samuel Burr, Fran Littlewood, Sharna Jackson and Jessa Hastings. She often speaks at writing conferences and mentors debut writers.
