The Route
Starting and finishing at Edale YHA, we’ll climb via The Nab and below Ringing Roger to reach Kinder Scout, then follow the spectacular southern edge path towards Crookstone Edge. From there, we’ll descend into the valley and return alongside Jaggers Clough. If the weather plays ball, you can expect sweeping views, dramatic gritstone scenery and a satisfying mix of moorland, impressive rock formations and stunning woodland.
Please note that we reserve the right to change the route to a lowland alternative, if we deem it necessary due to the weather.

Who will be your guides?
Suze is a freelance Hill & Moorland Leader and Wilderness Therapeutic Practitioner based in the Peak District. After a decade living the big city life, she returned to the Peaks in 2016 and experienced a ‘coming home’ as she rediscovered a deep connection with nature, which led her to retrain as an outdoor leader. Suze works with CICs, community groups and organisations to run walking projects, skills sessions, foraging and nature connection experiences, and is passionate about the power of nature to support healing, reflection and belonging.
Susie is an International Mountain Leader based in the southern Cotswolds, who has loved journeys in the outdoors since she did her first ‘expedition’ on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme aged 14. Since then she has spent over 30 years exploring on all five continents and has a taste for deserts as well as mountains. Susie has been leading trekking groups since 2005; in the Alps and Dolomites, as well as the UK and further afield: India, Nepal, Cuba, Jordan, Peru, Bolivia and more. She enjoys learning about local culture wherever she is, and especially the local cake specialities!
FAQs
How old do I need to be to participate?
18+
Are there toilets en route?
There are toilets at the YHA but we won’t pass a toilet along the route - however there are plenty of discreet places for ‘wild wees’ along the route (and walk leaders carry supplies for emergency number 2s – just in case!)
Are dogs allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead throughout the walk. Please bear in mind the distance and presence of livestock when deciding whether the route is suitable for your dog.
What happens in bad weather?
The walk will usually go ahead in rainy or changeable weather, but we may change to a lower route for safety if it is very windy. We will however cancel if stormy conditions are forecast.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely, lots of people attend Out & Wild events alone. You’ll be warmly welcomed by both your walk leaders and other attendees, and walks tend to be a great way to get to know people in a relaxed way.
What food is provided?
You will need to bring your own packed lunch, snacks and water. Tea, coffee and cake will be available for us upon our return to Edale YHA, around 3:30pm.
What if I can no longer attend, or need to ask a question in advance?
Please let Suze know on 07887771644.
