The People’s Letters ‘See Red’!
A workshop where you can collaborate on making your own posters – with an introduction by Anne Robinson former member of See Red Women’s Workshop Collective showing images and ideas from DIY Culture and radical poster making, connecting these histories with contemporary politics.
See Red:
Working together collectively from 1974 to 1990, See Red Women’s Workshop grew out of a shared desire to combat sexist images of women and to create positive and challenging alternatives. Women from a wide range of backgrounds made posters mainly with silkscreen printing, tackling issues of sexuality, inequality, racism, identity, international struggles and oppression. The posters have continued to inspire activists and in 2016, four collective members produced: 'See Red: Feminist Posters 1974-1990' with Four Corners Books.
Anne Robinson is a contemporary artist based in east London. Her multidisciplinary practice is concerned with the perception and politics of time passing, ’queering’ technologies’, and working with archives to ‘listen to the past’ through works such as ‘Wakeful’ (2018) and ‘The Charmers’ (2025) which draws on records from 17thcentury Scottish ‘witch’ trials. She has exhibited and taught widely.
