The Rush is the newest publication by DykeHouse Press: an anthology of queer, imminent, heady and sexy poems. Containing the work of 24 poets from across the English-speaking literary landscape, it explores impulsive decisions, aching desires, blurry nights out, brief encounters—and much more.

Ash Burnel is a visual poet/artist working with concrete poetry and glitch-core aesthetics. At the moment they write a lot about the(ir) trans experience and are documenting the beginning of their physical transition. Ash is also currently researching new methods of expressing the traumatised experience via visual poetry as a practice-led PhD at the University of Leeds.
Eden Chicken is a queer poet whose work often explores hybridity. Having graduated from University of East Anglia’s Poetry MA, they have been published by Seedlings, Reverie, new words {press}, Ambient Receiver and more, featured on The Poetry Society’s website, as well as nominated for the Monarch Queer Literary Awards and shortlisted for The Free Verse Prize 2025. They regularly perform in Sheffield, where they run a fortnightly workshop.
Luke Worthy is a queer poet and fiction writer living between Sheffield and Amsterdam. His work has appeared in BUTT Magazine, fourteen poems, Magma, Poetry Wales and The Poetry Society website. He was runner-up in the International New Poet’s Prize 2023. In 2025, he was highly commended in the Fool For Poetry Chapbook Competition and shortlisted for the Northern Writers' Debut for Poetry Award. He is a member of Hive Poetry Collective and Managing Editor at Plant-Human Quarterly.
Parel Joy is the founder and editor-in-chief of DykeHouse Press, and the co-editor of THE RUSH. She is the author of the pamphlet The Queen of Cups and Other Poems (SPAM Press), translates poems from Dutch into English and vice versa, and is working on her debut collection. She lives in Amsterdam and bases her poetry practice between the Netherlands and Scotland.
