With thousands now killed in the US/Israeli illegal war on Iran, and serious risks of the war widening, the British government’s decision to allow the use of Fairford, has dragged the country even further into this dangerous war of aggression.
Iran did not begin this war. The United States and Israel did. Iran is resisting an armed attack upon its territory and its people.
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has approved the continued use of British military bases by the United States for certain strikes on Iran, maintaining a policy established under his predecessor, Keir Starmer, as Washington expands its military campaign.
The British government needs to use its diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation. Central to this is withdrawing the use of British bases.
Britain’s attempt to hide behind the spurious argument that Fairford is being used for ‘defensive’ operations cannot be justified. Actively assisting a country breaching international law is indefensible.
The overwhelming majority of the British population oppose this deadly war and oppose the United States’ use of British bases.
