B0RE-CORE or Exploring The Art of The Mundane - A Writing Workshop by Aimee Ballinger
A few years ago while I was explaining to a friend why I always like to live in close proximity to a 24 hour corner shop so that I can grab a Crunchie or a Twix at any time of day or night, he turned to be an told me that I embodied something he called BORE-CORE. I think what he meant is that I like to really sit in the more boring aspects of my life. I like to think about them. I like to elevate them.
In BORE-CORE or Exploring The Art of The Mundane - A Writing Workshop we will be exploring the ways in which artists, writers, filmmakers, thinkers and even entire movements pick at the domestic, banal, mundane and BORING aspects of life and turn them into ART. We will be examining the work of Lydia Davis, Martha Rosler, Yoko Ono, William Carlos Williams and David Sedaris and responding to a series of writing prompts to create writing that turns the idea of boredom on its head.
