Join us for a conversation exploring how we celebrate identity during Pride season.
- Topic: Living in the closet and finding our true selves
- Date: Tuesday 20th October, 2026
- Time: 6 - 7.30pm
About this session
For some South Asian LGBTQ+ men, being open about our sexuality, gender identity or expression, and who we are can feel difficult because of family, culture, religion, marriage expectations or fear of rejection.
- What is it like to hide parts of ourselves?
- Where can we feel safe enough to be ourselves?
- And how do we balance being true to ourselves with family, cultural and religious expectations?
Join us for an open and supportive conversation. Whether you're out, partly out or not out at all, you can share as much or as little as you like.
About South Asian HangOuts
A twice monthly friendly and welcoming online social and peer support group for gay, bi and trans men with South Asian heritage.
Our aim is to reduce isolation by creating a safe space to get to know each other through shared lived experiences, topic discussions and creative activities.
This online space is an opportunity to build community by coming together and connecting with one another in a safe and friendly non-judgmental space.
- We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month 6 -7.30pm
- Please try to arrive 5 minutes early. The Zoom room closes at 6.10pm (this is so we can minimise any disruption).
- Please read our online group agreement
By South Asian we mean countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka and beyond. We welcome gay, bi & trans men from all South Asian faith backgrounds as well as those who don’t identify with any faith. One of the main aims of the groups is to reduce isolation including social, cultural and geographical, by connecting with each other's lived experiences.
