The Equality Network asked community leaders engaging with LGBTI people all over Scotland what support and training they needed. They told us that fundraising was a key issue. In these sessions, we will provide an introduction to this topic, exploring the nuts and bolts of fundraising, how to build your group's capacity to raise funds, who provides funding and how to apply for it.
These free sessions will be delivered as 2 three-hour workshops on 22nd and 29th June from 6pm to 9pm. These workshops are specifically for groups that are new to fundraising, we will be running separate workshops on fundraising for those with more experience.
By the end of these two sessions you will be able to:
- Identify what your group needs to have in place to make effective approaches to funders
- Understand how fundraising works and why people give
- Identify what parts of your work are suitable for funding from a range of sources
- Learn how to research sources of funding.
There will be a short homework assignment between the sessions that will be shared with other participants.
The course will be delivered and facilitated by Pam Judson, who has over 25 years’ experience supporting the third sector to raise funding. She delivers regular fundraising training for SCVO and other third sector umbrella organisations, as well as working with a range of equalities organisations across Scotland. Pam is also a grant assessor for a range of funders including Foundation Scotland, Impact Funding Partners and small grants for Comic Relief. She is the author of several guides on fundraising and how to apply for funds.
