Margate's finest (and only...) Morris team, Bower Street are back again to bring the folk-harvest home.
There'll be a ceilidh for everyone to join in, dance displays and a weird folk disco. The back rooms will have music and singing sessions - bring a song or an instrument if you want to join in!
This is an inclusive night for everyone to reimagine a new folk identity for Margate and themselves.
Folk Dance Remixed will be bringing a ceilidh like no other with beatboxing, street dance and folk all getting very cosy!
Dress in your weirdest folk finery/finest folk weirdery. Prompts: harvests, Autumn, ghosts and insurrection.
Doors at 7pm performance and Morris dancing from the very start
Code of conduct:
The Margate Arts Club is a joyful, Queer-run, LGBTQIA+ focused, anti-racist, intersectional organisation and community space.
We welcome and open our doors to everyone who is nice and respectful; radical free thinkers, artists, creatives, kinksters, left-wingers, socialists, environmentalists, supporters of equal rights and allies to the LGBTQIA+ community.
We do not tolerate racism, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, body shaming, slut shaming, or misogyny.
Please do not enter the building if you do not agree or can not abide by the above. Have fun, go wild, but respect each other’s boundaries. Ask for consent before touching anyone. This includes touching hair. Let people dance and talk in peace if they want to. Everyone deserves a night without being hassled or objectified. No means no.
If you ever have an unwanted interaction or micro-aggression, please inform a member of our team on the night, and we will deal with it straight away. Also, look out for each other. This is a community space, so let’s have each other’s backs and also check in on each other’s welfare.
Big love. x
