The Doctor Who writer, showrunner, and all-around queer writing trailblazer is back on our screens with the Who 60th anniversary…but how has he shaped Queer TV?
In Gay Aliens and Queer Folk, Emily Garside deeply dives into the queer narratives Russell T Davies has brought to our screens. Russell T Davies has advocated for representing Queer lives and experiences on TV throughout his career. In this talk, followed by audience conversation, Emily Garside discusses his impact on queer TV history.
About the author:
Emily Garside is a writer and professional nerd based in Cardiff. She has a PhD in theatrical responses to the AIDS crisis and is a leading expert on LGBTQ+ theatre. Emily regularly writes for journals such as The Queer Review, American Theatre, and Wales Art Review, and she is also the author of Love That Journey For Me: The Queer Revolution of Schitt’s Creek.
