Living Pictures presents The Orchard, an intimate, script-in-hand reading of a new play.
The Orchard examines our ties to the earth as resource, refuge and real estate, and speaks to the resurgence of a pre-revolutionary pessimism, asking what needs to die in order for new systems to be born. It follows a dysfunctional family on their ailing apple orchard over two hot nights one summer, as they take stock of their lives and the land they depend on.
Taking the plays of Anton Chekhov as a starting point, Living Pictures and the acting company devised the piece to give focus to the minutiae of relationships gone to seed.
Entrance on Ormside Street (SE15 1TR). Doors at 7pm, performance at 7.30pm.
