Join us for an in-conversation with author Amelia Abraham and artist Sunil Gupta, to celebrate the new book Sex, Clubs, Dissent: Visualising Queer Nightlife.
Through the lens of photographers, filmmakers, and artists, Sex, Clubs, Dissent traces the visual history of queer nightlife. It examines how image-making has encouraged, and sometimes jeopardised, the formation of queer practices, subcultures, and resistance. Instead of offering a timeline of queer nightlife, the book is a love letter to those who went out and stayed out, felt the urge to document or reflect on these spaces, or who have used their artmaking to imagine new ways of being.
Our Meet the Author series invites you to learn more about Britain’s queer history from those who are writing it. Each event features an in-conversation with the author, followed by a post-event book signing where you can meet them in person. You can purchase a copy of the book in our shop.
Your ticket also includes admission to Queer Britain Museum – explore our exhibitions before the event.
