Join us for an in-conversation with comedian James Barr and author Harry Tanner to celebrate his book The Queer Thing About Sin: Why the West Came to Hate Queer Love.
The history of the ancient Greece tells us that it was not a sin to queer: the most famous warrior in antiquity loved another man, and the poet whose lyrics were memorised by philosophers and kings sang of her desire for women. In The Queer Thing About Sin, Tanner traces the origins of homophobia in the west, and how we can move forward and resist homophobia in the future.
Our Meet the Author series invites you to learn more about Britain’s queer history from those who are writing it. Each event features an in-conversation with the author, followed by a post-event book signing where you can meet them in person.
