Join us for an in-conversation with author A.J. West to celebrate the book How Queer Bookshops Changed the World.
From Gay’s the Word in London to the Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop in New York, West traces the evolution of queer bookshops from under-the-counter operations to the proud institutions they are today. How Queer Bookshops Changed the World documents an important history, while showing how these spaces supported the fight for equality, and offered support throughout the AIDS crisis to Section 28 and beyond.
Our Meet the Author series invites you to learn more about Britain’s queer history from those who are writing it. Each event features an in-conversation with the author, followed by a post-event book signing where you can meet them in person.
Your ticket also includes admission to Queer Britain Museum – explore our exhibitions before or after the event.
