To commemorate National Testing Week 2026, Spectra is organising two workshops in Brent. The workshops aim to provide information around HIV, the importance of prevention and testing, including how to support folks living with HIV.
In the first part of the day, we will provide an introduction to HIV/AIDS, including the impact of stigma, the importance of testing, as well as prevention methods, such as PrEP, PEP, and condoms. Our aim is to combat misinformation and to encourage attendees to champion their learning in their day-to-day lives.
In the second part of the day, we will discuss in more detail what support exists for people living with HIV as well as raise awareness about life with HIV, to further reduce stigma and discrimination within our communities. We will provide concrete examples of positive support for people living with HIV for community members to utilise outside of the workshop.
A representative from the London HIV Prevention Programme (LHPP), a city-wide initiative to reduce new HIV diagnoses and promote sexual health, will be there to discuss about where London is in our current efforts to combat HIV and stigma surrounding it.
The final hour of the event there will be an opportunity for people to network.
