Want to get creative without the fear of being ‘good’ at it? Want to hang out with some queers and make something silly on a Saturday afternoon? ...then come along to Bad Art Club by Rough Edges Arts at QueerSwap Studio!
Guided by your friendly neighbourhood dyke and wellbeing arts practitioner Dylan, you can get crafty with a different theme each month, exploring open-ended, mixed-media activities where the goal is just to enjoy yourself, not make the next Mona Lisa.
May theme…tbc!
Your facilitator (Dylan) will be there to guide you, give prompts on different ways to express your ‘self’ and cheer you on as much or as little as you’d like!
Bad Art Club is a drop-in, cafe-style session so you can stay as little or as long as you’d like between 1pm and 5pm.
If you have any specific access requests you’d like the facilitator to take into account when planning the session, tools or materials e.g limited dexterity, sight loss, limb difference, sensory aversions. Email dylan.roughedgesart@gmail.com or message Queerswap, and we can make sure there will be something that works for you available. All activities are very open-ended, so are easy to adapt to what you need - don’t hesitate to ask!
The bad art club manifesto:
- there is no such thing as bad art.
- play is fundamental.
- your inner critic isn’t invited.
- let your inner child run free.
- there is no ‘wrong way’ to make, paint, draw, or create anything.
- be as social as you want to be.
- come as you are, stay as long as you’d like.
- get silly and gay with it.
QueerSwap Studio is wheelchair accessible. Tea and coffee are available, and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks into the studio. Please refrain from bringing nuts or shellfish.
QueerSwap Studio is a non-profit community creative space. All proceeds for this activity go to the facilitators of Badge Cafe. If you’d like to support QueerSwap Studio, consider becoming a Friend of QueerSwap!
