QueerSwap is an LGBTQ+ clothing swap that enables everyone in the queer community to find clothing that fits and expresses their individuality and affirms their identity more sustainably, without breaking the bank.
For our Spring Swap Fest we are back at Hackney Bridge, with a food hall and a beautiful outdoor terrace for soaking up the sun in addition to rails upon rails of secondhand clothes for you to swap from, free alterations and mending from our QueerSwap volunteers, a customisation station from Silly Little Craft Club and Pussy Infrerno, and board/card games for you to borrow and play.
Oh, and did we mention that @flea.london will also be hosting a huge flea market on-site from 11 am – 5 pm?
This event will sell out. Due to flea.london also being at Hackney Bridge, we cannot promise additional tickets will be added or that we can accommodate on-the-door tickets/entry.
❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 WHAT TO BRING TO THE SWAP 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️
We will not accept any dirty items, or items that are stained, torn (unless “distressed” intentionally), missing buttons, have broken zips, etc. We also will not accept underwear(pants), socks, tights/hosiery, or earrings/piercings unless new in packaging. Shoes and coats must be in great condition or better, and clean! We do not accept childrens clothing.
We do allow hats, scarves, belts, bracelets, necklaces, binders, corsets, bodysuits, and bags.
If you have more than 10 items you may bring the excess as a donation. You will still be capped at 10 swapping tickets in order to help ensure everyone can find items.
❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 HOW THE SWAP WORKS 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️
Swap participants are welcome to bring up to 10 items of gently-used clothing and exchange them for new-to-you items that suit their current style. When you arrive you will exchange your swappable items for tokens. You can then browse items brought by others, and “check out” at the end by “cashing in” your tokens for those items.
1 item = 1 token to exchange 🔄
Once the items are traded for tokens they go straight onto the floor, so make sure you are 100% sure before you pass them over.
Then you can look at all the items brought by other people, take a break to check out the market or grab a bite, do another lap to see if anything else you like has been added, and “check-out” with your chosen items whenever you are finished. We encourage people to arrive earlier so they can get the most out of the event and see more items that come into the swap before they are snagged by someone else.
❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 Silly Little Craft Club x Pussy Inferno: Customisation Station 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️
Silly Little Craft Club (https://www.instagram.com/sillylittle.craftclub/) is teaming up with Pussy Inferno (https://www.instagram.com/pxssyinferno/) to bring you their exciting new customisation station for your chance to take your swap finds and make them actually feel like you.
Snagged something cute but not quite there yet? Bring it over. We’ll have a customisation menu with a few inspo ideas and a mix of tools & materials so you can tweak, mess with, and elevate your piece however you want.
Pick a direction, then make it your own, you get to decide placement, combinations, and how far you want to push it: go subtle, go bold, go a bit chaotic, we’re here for all of it.
The team will be there to guide you or hype you, but you get to be your own designer! No experience needed. Just bring your finds and give them the glow-up they deserve!
This event is pay-what-you-can. We ask that you consider paying the equivalent to a pint or coffee if you are able. All proceeds support QueerSwap, a nonprofit CIC and are reinvested into our activities.
😷ACCESS/COVID-SAFER HOUR 😷
For the first hour, from 12 PM to 1 PM, all volunteers, and guests are required to wear FFP2 face masks to ensure a safer environment for immunocompromised participants.
We encourage everyone to test before attending, regardless of arrival time.
Hackney Bridge is a step-free, wheelchair accessible venue with accessible toilets. There is a large, heavy door into the event space that does not have a push-to-open button. You may need assistance opening this door. If you're looking for parking, there is on-the-street parking available on Wallis Street on the other side of the river, and a lift that will take you up to the bridge to cross over to Hackney Bridge.
Due to Flea London being on-site, expect heavier crowding in the food hall, etc.
Full access review to be added at a later date.
